Petra is petra, I have been there at least four times. This time it would be different. Now as a climber, I noticed all the cracks that I thought would be fun to climb or challenging. I carried my climbing shoes in hope that I could boulder a bit.
My intention for this trip was not only to see the Petra tomb but to see the bigger tomb which was located at the top of a long long long long winding staircase. I had never seen it so, that was my intent of the day.
Once I reached the beginning of the stair case, there was sign that read “ do not pass this sign with out a guide. “ Me and Karah looked at each other and laughed. We definantly did not need a guide, we could do this.
So off we went, as we walked there was a couple with a baby. We were behind them most of the way. When we reached the Da er tomb which is at the top of the stairs we had a good talk with them. There answeres were quite interesting. I asked the lady where she was from she said we are from everywhere, then I was like well where are you staying, she replied for right now we are in amman but we will move again. I was really intrigued by her answers because like her I am I fourth culture person. My dad is Jordanian, and my mom is German. I was born in the US but I never really lived in the US. So in some ways I think I could use her response that I am from everywhere . And that’s how I would like to end my petra journey since people from everywhere were there to see a collection of tombs dug out of the rocks.
