Wadi Rum Blog
Wadi Rum sits in the south of Jordan, as a vast desert. It carries two three things sandstone, sand and the foot prints of history’s most notable legends, Laurence of Arabia.
These three things are not the only things that brought my attention to the desert. There was also the urge to boulder the sandstone. A task that required skills as the rocks would easily crumble. It get the idea, try breaking a loaf of dry bread. Ironically like bread you cannot live with alone, you need other things like practice and good foot work.
Back to the desert, once me, my sister and my sisters friend arrived. We did what Jordanians do best we bargained our way through to getting a Bedouin guide, and tents to sleep in.
Our guide was a Bedouin who noticed how we were bargaining with the Wadi Rum officials and made us an offer we could not refuse. We took the offer and hopped in to his four by four and dove into the dessert. We stopped at his tent, and had tea with his family as well. Some thing the other tourists were not getting a taste of which was great because we desered it after driving for three hours.
As the night set in we heading back, our guide let us watch the sunset, which was ubercool. After this we returned to our campsite and I pitched my tent. I was happy that I was here, because when I looked up I could see stars everwhere. I wanted to sleep under those stars every night if I could but it was freezing cold. And I knew my tent would serve its purpose to slept in it instead.
Once morning broke, I woke up and felt really cold. And I thought what would Bear Grylis do. So I did a couple push ups and I thought this is not enough. I got out of the tent I spotted a small hill right behind the camp site and I felt a rush to climb it.
